Yes or No ? Thanks in advance (Why don’t they give things names and numbers you can understand) :
Which is the relationship between the title of the thread and the picture you’ve posted?
This is where the IP address comes from, China
inetnum: 221.0.0.0 - 221.3.127.255
netname: CNCGROUP-SD
descr: CNCGROUP Shandong province network
So I would say no.
I’m somewhat surprised that ashWebSv.exe, gets a mention as this has nothing to do with ashWebSv.exe, it is just trying to connect to a port that it is using for inbound http traffic (port 80 redirected) and not port 6000. So I don’t know what tiny firewall is playing at, it should just be detecting an inbound connection attempt using port 6000.
Nothing other than outbound requests to view web pages should come back through the web shield localhost port.
@ Tech,
I would say zero, I soon ignored the title and concentrated on the image, it is a firewall blocking an inbound connection attempt to an inbound localhost port of the web shield. Ignore the background in the image it is all about the firewall alert.
I don’t
Sorry tech., meant to explane that and forgot ! (age) ::)Was completely of topic, I thought. (couldn’t,t get in.)
What TPF is reporting is an attempt to connect from the reported IP address originating from its port 6000 to port 1433 on Hines’ system.
It is most likely coincidental that avast (standing in for the Web browser) is using real port 1433 waiting for a response to a Web request when this connection attempt came in.
TPF catches many things trying to get on my computer, always give them “Deny”, but this time it had some thing to do with “Avast”, wasn’t sure what to do. Thanks. Still at a loss as to the lingo that is used with firewalls.
Now you are a little wiser.
Under normal circumstances genuine inbound traffic to the web shield would be on port 80 (not 6000 in this case) and because the request originated from the computer it should come in unmolested by the firewall.
It is because this inbound traffic didn’t come from a request on your system (unauthorised inbound traffic) it was queried by your firewall, many firewall settings would just block this and not report it or throw up the challenge for you to have to make a decision on it. So you could review the firewall sensitivity and reporting.
DavidR, I was doing as you suggested (reviewing setup for TPF free version) Not much help files. The only thing I came across was this. (see attachment). Nothing is filled in on this panel ! Should there be ??? Thanks for your help. Hate fire walls ! That is why I use TPF.(just install and let run default), and it has been working great.
Whilst I haven’t used TPF the image would appear correct on its default values as a) your computer is assigned an IP address when you connect b) you aren’t connecting from a networked computer acting as a host.
So I would say if a ans b above are correct then the default settings are fine, especially if it is working.
A.O.K. and thanks ;D
You’re welcome.

Nice avatar, which carrier ?
My son served on her for 3 years (USS CARL VINSON CVN 70). He is now deployed aboard the (USS RONALD REGAN CVN 76) some where around the Persian Gulf.
An impressive site, you just don’t get an idea of the size of them from a picture though.
