I wish to install a more recent version of Avast on a computer with no internet connection. If I first remove the old version and then install the more recent version, will I have to type in the registration key again? Will the newer version of Avast recognise the same registration key? ???
I thought I might save myself some trouble by asking first.

You can use old registration keys for over 14 months. Then you have to register again and receive a new free key.
If you uninstall avast, the new one won’t recognize the old key. If you upgrade ‘over’ the old installation (without removing it), avast will recognize the key.
Sorry Tech, but I’ve completely uninstalled Avast and installed new versions using the same key. I’ve done this for certain going from 4.7.986 to 4.7.1001, and just recently from 4.7.1001 to 4.7.1029, and the same key always works.
You can ‘use’ the old key, but avast won’t automatically ‘recognize’ it, I mean, you’ll need to add the key again.
