I’d originally posted this (several minutes ago) as a slightly O/T but related reply in a thread about license keys over in General Topics, so left just an apologetic explanation there and moved the bulk of it here.
I’ve noticed that on my wife’s computer (which doesn’t yet have internet access), the defs-update expiration is showing as a few months earlier than mine. Most likely I forgot to copy the reg key to hers last time I re-registered mine.
If I plug my current reg key into hers, will she then again be “synched” with me as far as expiration date?
Just thought of another question related to the above. Since she doesn’t have internet access, I’ll periodically download the full defs-database file and copy that to her machine. Will her license, when and if it slips into expiration, still permit updating that way, or will I have to make sure the license is still active first?
Hmm, just thought of another one, which relates to the upcoming avast 5 (I haven’t played with the beta). As I understand it, that version will use incremental/modular updating for parts of the program itself in addition to the defs (actually the defs will in effect become a program module rather than a separate database). Will offline-updating still be available with that kind of arrangement?
Sorry for this 3-in-1, but they all do relate to license updating for the home version(s).
