Ok getting really tired of this.

Ok so for the last 5 months Avast has been borked. I cant open the UI I cant even right click on the tray icon… Simply put nothing happens, they are there and the services are running; but I don’t know if they are working or uptodate. I have killed defender and the firewall, I have clean installed avast 7 times and I just got done reinstalling windows. Even going as far as DDing the entire disk to zero in Linux…

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Repair Avast:
Control Panel> Program and Features (Add/remove program)>Select Avast> Select Repair. Reboot when completed

If Repair doesn’t fix the problem, try the following:
Clean Install of Avast:

@Asyn any version…
@bob3160 read original post… I’ve already done all this…

What OS and what version of the OS ???

Latest build of windows 10 x64

I run Avast on many Windows 10 computers 64 and 32. Not a problem I’ve ever encoutered that a clean install didn’t cure.
You can try the following:
https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/33/

done file sent, now to see what comes of this…

Post your support file # here.

didnt see your post generated a new one forgot its location in appdata 3H3JY, old one is 1AVZD

Information forwarded to Avast.

I just received the following reply from the developers:
“Hi! We’ve been looking into the support packages and it seems that there are some problems with connection to our beta server during installation of Avast. This might cause issues with running Avast properly. Will the same issue occur if he tries the stable version of Avast Premier installed using the offline installer? https://install.avcdn.net/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

Please try installing the program using the Offline installer and see if that makes a difference.

Done with the offline already, same issue. But I did it again, same thing cant open the UI.

O and I cant right click on the icon in the task bar, nothing comes up.

Apparently the original install messed things up. Doing a new install on top of the mess didn’t help things.
Suggest you do the following:

Clean Install of Avast:

I have already done this even going as far as a reinstall of windows, like I stated in the original post. Same problems

Will also note I have to uninstall avast with the cleaner there is no other way since the UI will not display.

bump still broke…

Request to have one of the Malware experts take a look at your system since
the things that should have solved your problem did not solve it.

Is the OP a Windows 10 insider running the latest builds?
Perhaps there is a problem there …

Windows 10 is a different kind of Windows, it’s always evolving.
The A/V vendors will always be playing catch-up

Very true. If it is a preview build, there may well be a compatibility issue.

Its still broke, tired reinstalling it and… it still doesn’t work…
