yesterday I realized, that the on-access feature doesnt work properly as it does before: it says 7 providers at all, 4 are active. I just figured out that the e-mail scanner doesnt write a comment at the end of the mail, as it did before. the last avast comment in an email I got on April 3th, after that date this feature is missing, also I´m sure that the web shield is out of function since that date, also when Im going into the menu for the settings all features are switched on, also the marks for giving me notes in proper emails. on April the 3th I also did an update with avast. so did avast changedsomething in that update?? I didn´t change anything at all in my settings so I really dont have a glue why those two important and useful feature are out of function now. as I said, when I´m checking the on-access settings all 7 features are switched on. hopefully you can give any advice what to do.

I would find it strange if you required all 7 providers, check the list and terminate those that you don’t require.
Check and ensure that ashWebSv.exe and ashMaiSv.exe are allowed access in your firewall (which is?).
What is your OS?
What is your email program?
I would suggest that you try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
If that doesn’t work try, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.

I just did that repair try but it didnt help. still no comments in emails, as before. Im running XP, and sygate personal firewall.
and yes, ashWebSv.exe and ashMaiSv.exe are allowed.
so I think I actually will have to remove and reinstall it. I really wonder how it could happen from one to another day.
and cause of youre wondering, isnt it good to run all seven providers at one time?? I think all seven are usefull, aren`they??
No problems to run all the providers.
But, if you want, you could disable the ones you do not use (for instance, P2P and/or IM providers).

on-access email scanner and web shield are working again.
I just removed avast and did a complete new installation, now it works fine, as it worked before the last update. so I`m sure it was something like an update bug, because nothing else changed.
