On-access scanning and alerts

I’ve just installed avast 2.2.0 and avast-fss 1.0.11, and while it will manually scan files and say which ones are corrupted, or which are (for example) EICAR test files, it doesn’t send any sort of email, or put anything in the /var/log/messages file. What sort of alerts are available for FSS, and how does one configure them? Specifically, on-access scanning. Where are logfiles for Avast stored? Is there a whitelist mechanism available?

Thanks, Sandro

Linux is not supported by avast for several years.
If you want to use avast on a linux system, you need to buy the server version from a reseller and go to the reseller for support.

I read it. Several times. It doesn’t tell you how to enable on-access scanning, or how to control when (or even if) it runs automated scans, or where it puts the results.
