Once I start to pay for Avast, two problems crop up - No internet no, email

Windows XP for OS.

For a couple of years now I’ve used free avast without a single glitch. Beginning about two week ago my Avast starts counting down that it will “expire”. Odd I thought.

Well I decided to pay $39 for a version of avast thinking that it must be better if they want money for it now. The first morning after I pay and download it, I couldn’t get my computer to connect to the internet. My ISP walked through to Safe Mode and said that some program was making this happen. My laptop works fine through the wireless router. I don’t have avast on it. What a friend of mine found was under the Properties of Network Connections there is a “list of programs that this connection uses”. There was something about an Avast firewall that my friend unchecked and now things work fine for my desktop.

Now problem number two. I can’t get my email client to startup. It’s Mozilla Thunderbird. what’s up with this $39 avast that is now causing my email client to not start up? Thunderbird has worked flawlessly for three years now until I pay $39 for avast.

First of all. You didn’t had to pay. Avast still has the free home edition. You only where required to get a new free key and insert it in avast!

Secondly, why disabling the firewall? Just set up the apropiate permission(s) in the expert settings.

Third, setup avast and Thunderbird.
