optix>isass.exe help

aparantly i have the optix trojan. it shows up in my task manager as isass.exe. avast hasnt picked it up neither has adaware. any tips on how to get rid of it?

ps. im a registry novice, so please explain things carefully…i normally dont have any virus probs.

 Hi “Dead” :

For something this serious, I recommend you ask for help
on the Ad-Aware oriented forums at www.landzdown.com.
"isass" is nothing to be messing around with .

i did some more research on my own and found that i read my taskman wrong, its a lowercase “L” at the beginning. so instead of isass.exe, it’s lsass.exe…and from the website i read it from that’s a normal windows file.
im hoping that what i found is correct, please post if this isnt right, thanks.

 Hi “Dead” :

My original recommendation still stands ; neither
"isass" or "lsass", in connection with a trojan, is
something to mess around with .

What you describe is in fact a system file that should be there , but only you know wether it shows as system file and that there`s only one instance of it in taskmanager. if not seek help

should i be worried if their are 7 instances of svchost.exe?

not unless your pc has strange behaviour that you cannot account for .

sweet, one last question.
earlier today i was converting some video files and then that gave me an error. after that i started surfing the net and noticed that everything was running very slow. i looked into my taskman and it was showing cpu usage at 100 percent and there were to instances where it was a long list of random numbers and letters…both taking up 50% of my cpu. after i restarted everything was normal, and thats what started my up and this virus finding crusade…ever heard of anything like this, is it just a glitch or error?

Hi DeadSheap,
you can read something about issas.exe and lsass.exe from here
http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/isass.html also you can do a quick scan.

So other than the mis-identified running process lssas (as issas ) was there anything else that made you thin there was an infection on your system ?

Whilst 7 instances of svchost.exe (Services Host) would be considered a lot, I have 4 instances of svchost.exe in task manager. Multiple instances are not unusual for more information on svchost.exe see http://windowsxp.mvps.org/svchost.htm

Video processing/editing is processor intensive, but what was the error ?
As for the randomly named processes does this only occur during video editing ?
If this occurs again perhaps you can do a screen capture of it, if you have any CPU processing left ;D .
