os reinstall and reinstalling avast pro

hi a friend of mine bought avast pro a few weeks ago and has hat to have the OS reinstalling due to a HDD replacement how can i got about her getting the pro version back again ?

is it just a serial number code or something needed to activate it
how will she get this ?

Just one additional suggestion: update Windows and reboot. Try windows Update again and reboot… Until no new updates are available to apply. Validate / activate Windows product, and repeat the Windows updates checks (until no new ones are available). Only then install avast, reboot, update avast and add the license file.

You don’t reinstall it.
You do either a repair or a clean installation.

The captcha is only there a few times.

  1. Download avast! Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
