Other Anti programs that can run with conjunction with avast

Can somepeople tell me what programs are compatible with a combination of Avast home and MBAM. I had to help my Mother,Grandmother, and myself with over 400 pieces of Malware(adware and trojans)

-= SUPERantispyware, Spyware Blaster, Win Patrol… But when we talk about in conjunction with another antivirus, I would not recommend it, because two antivirus might just cause conflict with each other…

-= By the way, here are my experiments [but I dont recommend you to try this] :

Avast + Norton = fine but computer is terribly slow
Avast + Kaspersky = fine but computer is very slow and programs are a little crashy [esp. firefox , IE and chrome]
Avast + Avira = fine but problem when a virus is detected because both programs seem to conflict when they detect virus simultaneously
Avast + NOD32 = system hang-up after log-in

because two antivirus might just cause conflict with each other..

Not might, will.

I’d never recommend running two… I’m sorry, not running, merely installed at the same time. They screw each other up bad.

I haven’t tried installing two A/V programs, just to see what problems they might cause, but I can tell you this. A LOT of problems that people have with avast are caused simply by having another A/V program installed at the same time that Avast is, or not removing an old A/V program completely before installing avast.

Just stick with ONE A/V program, and some On-Demand Anti-Spyware/Malware programs such as the ones that chronoboi stated.

I know about the catastrophe two AVs would do, my brother tried that and the computer refused to boot. So he went safe mode. and another question will it conflict with MBAM

No. MBAM and avast are compatible.

oops, I ment to say are the other Anti spyware stuff compatible with MBAM, sorry I forgot that last part.

Yes, but only if you are using the free versions. Those are only “On-Demand” scanners, not “Real-time”, which means that they only run when you tell them to.

If you have paid versions that run all the time, they’ll likely step on each other’s toes.

Generally, Avast Home, MBAM, and SAS (superantispyware) all work very well together.

You can also have HiJackThis installed, but you don’t usually need it unless you have a bad infection, or are trying to clean up a computer that didn’t have protection in the first place.

Take a look at my signature and see ;D
No problem with MBAM and SAS (Pro in my case, with resident protection).

I run Avast! with Prevx Edge, another well regarded anti-malware that claims to run alongside most other security programs.

Are there any free ones with real time?

It’s right. But nowadays, it does not offer that much detection missed by avast, on contrary, I think there are that many false positives.

I agree with tech there is really no need to have another real time AV or even AS scanner alongside AVAST. Just install SUPERANTISPYWARE and MALWERBYTES ANTIMALWARE and do regular scans once a week with both and you will be fine.As for the fact of installing a second AV. I think this is totally unwise and looking for trouble. There is another free scanner you could add .RISING PC DOCTOR i think it has real time antispyware monitoring abilities. it is nice but i haven’t really tried it alongside with AVAST
I would also suggest DR WEB CURE IT a very helpful piece of software. Download the package once a month and do a thorough scan with this antivirus software. It has no installation and real time just a scanner.

-= Same to SpyBot S&D… It was one of the greatest before… but not anymore since it couldn’t catch up with the database of the new ones…
