I ran OTL and it froze my whole computer and the power button wouldn’t work. I had to unplug my computer and when i turned it back on i logged onto my user and it was just a black screen. My friend also had this happen to him and an IT worker had to remove the whole hard drive. There is a new Hard Drive Virus out right now that gets into your hard drive and destroyes it. It is possible that OTL gives people with poor hard drives this virus. I am now forced to buy a new Hard Drive and it makes me very disapointed.
OTL does not give anyone a virus
OTL is a diagnostic tool and should only be run under supervision from somone that knows how to use it…
where did you download it from and what did you do with it
There is no malware that I am aware that destroys a hard drive physically, it may wipe data but it will not break the drive
You freaking broke my laptop I strongly recommended not doing this not unless you wanna pay money to get your hard drive fixed. I agree with night I had to buy a new hardrive
An analysis tool will not break a hard drive, it is an impossibility
if you downloaded OTL here in avast forum and followed the guide then it will only produce a diagnostic log…
if you have played around with it and run fixes you found on the net… then you may corrupt your OS, but it will not break any hardrive
I’ve used the program before. Under no supervision. If you follow the directons it’ll produce logs. OTL is not the cause
