Outgoing email with VISTA -- Windows Live Mail Desktop & Windows Mail

Before installing AVAST4 – both mail systems worked flawlessly with McAfee. In MacAfee there was a setting to allow outgoing email because I had a similar problem.

Since installing AVAST4, I can’t send mail from either mail system. The set-up properties of both mail systems are almost identical. There is no problem receiving mail.

I’ve attached snippets of the properties windows.

The mail systems return the following message:

The server does not support a SSL connection. Subject ‘Test’, Account: ‘Sympatico (xxxxxx)’, Server: ‘smtphm.sympatico.ca’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘250 OK’, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

I can get the mail to send when I disable the Internet Mail service.

I cant find a fix for this anywhere.
