Hi to all!
I’m evaluating Avast solution for our company (about 50 pc, included 3 server).
I’ve got a question regarding Avast Professional.
Avast realtime scans all incoming and outgoing emails into Outlook 2000/3 but how can I manually scan all my emails?
Some antivirus (i’m evaluating KAV too) is able tl scan the single PST file and so each message.
If you have MS Outlook installed (which I suppose you have), you can scan the PST files with avast!. If the scanning of archives is enabled, avast! should recognize the PST file and scan the contained messages.
Note, however, that this kind of “archive scanning” doesn’t provide the possibility to perform actions with infected object (for PST file content, I mean) - so if a virus is detected in such a scan, it is not possible to disinfect / delete it. Using the resident protection is advantageous here.
I’m not sure if the other antivirus (KAV) is able to remove any virus during PST scan.
When I launch Avast scan on the PST file the process takes only few seconds while if I use KAV emails messages scan the process takes more time and I see it scans all the messages ???
So I think Avast really doesn’t scan the email messages inside the PST file (yes I’m using MS Outlook 2003 and 2000)
Anyway thanks for info!
Ok Igor… my terrible mistake!! :-[ :-[ :-[
I re-try this operation on a PST file and now I see Avast scans every messages inside the PST file so you can delete my thread ;D
What a stupid man I am and it’s only Tuesday! ;D
Thanks!!!
