Overwatch 2 game general error

So I can start the battle net launcher, but when clicking play for OW2 I get a general error.

I discovered if I disable all shields then game will launch.

What steps do I take to determine which shield is breaking the game?

Could you attach the dialog box showing your ‘general error’?

General Error 0xE00101B0

Have done the following steps to narrow crashing behavior?: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=General+Error+0xE00101B0&atb=v385-1&ia=web

Attaching jpg, gif, png, txt, log file below:

Yes, I tried all that, I also discovered the game crashes are not just OW2, but Steam games like Project Zomboid, and Deep Rock Galactic all work fine without crashing as long as I disable Avast Shields …

What operating system?

What version of Avast and free or paid?

Any other security programs running and in place?

hello Bart4 and welcam to avast forums: can you try adding all gaims folders to exclusions and see if the error persist? thanks, just a user.

I have not responded as a new update from Avast came through and it seemed fixed for a few days but then OW2 decided to update now back to the same issue with a general error I made exceptions to the folder, which doesn’t work.

I have to pull my pants down (disable shields) launch the game then pull my pants back up.

The exact same thing is happening here.

Avast free Antivirus - Overwatch2

There seems to be no problem for a while after the first boot, but this error always occurs after some time after booting or when you turn off the Overwatch client and then turn it back on.
It will only launch if Avast is temporarily stopped.

2024/3/24 It seems to have been fixed.
nope

Did you fix the problem? It’s been like a month? And still not working. Unless I turn off coreshield. Everything updated. Still not working.
Do you guys in Avast even care about this problem?
Will we get some update or fix this year/century?

Hey,

I found this solution on Reddit wich fixed it for me:

Menu → Settings → General → Troubleshooting → “Enable hardware-assisted virtualization”
Uncheck this box.

Hope it will fix it for you aswell.
