Password Avast application is incorrect

I am having a problem with the Avast application on my laptop. When I am in the application on my laptop and I want to change settings, I have to fill in my password. But every time it says that my password is incorrect, but I don’t understand why. This password is the same as my account password, right? Because I cán log in my account with my password.
I already changed my account password to make sure I filled it in correctly, but still the application says that my password is incorrect. I tried to delete the application from my laptop in order to reinstall it again afterwards, but also for that I need the same password, which seems to be incorrect… I am lost… Can anyone please help me? Thank you so much!

No it isn’t correct - the two are different.

At some point you must have set a password for changing the settings in the Avast Program. So trying to use your Avast Account password to access your Avast program settings won’t work, unless you chose the same for both.

Dear David. Thank you so much for your help! Ahhh… but then the question is, how can I get into my Avast program settings if I don’t know my password anymore. In my Avast program there is no button that says ‘I forgot my password’…

In this article (at the bottom), you can see how to regain access if you don’t know this password: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/password-protect-antivirus/#idt_020

Thanks for the confirmation.

Whilst that gets you back again - however any changes you set in the previous installation of Avast would be lost.

It is probably a good idea to write down a cryptic clue to the password, but not the password, especially if you have others using your computer.
