Is there a way to avoid Password to ask everyday the “Main Password”? I have AIS but not the Premium feature for Password… I have seen the setting, but it does not seem to work: I am prompted once a day even if I set “once a week” or less… is it a bug or supposed to be like this for non-Premium users? :

It’s not a feature reserved to Premium. It’s there for security.
Anyway, there is an option to reduce the Main Password to be asked. Did you try it?

Hey y’all.

Couple things I’ve noticed in my version of Avast. First, under the Settings Menu > General Screen, there is a password tab, and that is for setting a password up to use different parts of the Avast program. I’ve not configured that, leaving everything blank (the default) as I reckon it’s more for a machine with several shared users. It looks like you can set a password up for just about every sub-program in Avast. Golly, what a nightmare that could be! Also, I assume that’s not what we are talking about here, but it’s always good to be clear… Ha!

Now then, under the Settings Menu Password Screen, after you set up a main password, you are able to make some configuration choices. One of those being how often to prompt for the password. On my version, I have only three choices: Daily (the default), once a week, and upon reboot. Like the previous post mentioned, it seems I was getting prompted everyday until I switched to upon reboot. Now, if I can actually go a whole day without re-booting (which is difficult when you are playing with a new OS) it seems to work as advertised.

This isn’t unusual behavior for a password manager. As a long time user of RoboForm I can tell you that RoboForm actually handles this options with a minute toggle! In other words, RoboForm in it’s settings, asks you “After how many minutes of inactivity should I require you to enter the main password again” I have mine set for 120 minutes, two hours… Which means after I enter RoboForm’s main password, I can open and close a browser and use stored logins with strong passwords just with one click all day long, as long as I’m working and using some aspect of the browser at least once every two hours. As soon as RoboForm senses nothing being done for two hours, it de-activates and will require the main password again when you try a protected login. RoboForm also requires the main password after any shutdown/restart of the program/system.

Like I said, this is not unusual behavior for a good password manager. I do grant that it takes some getting used to. After all my years with RoboForm, I still have to enter the main password the first time I use it every gosh dern day… And sometimes twice or three times in a day.

On the flip-side, RoboForm has about 80 password protected accounts for me, and they all have strong passwords. C’mon, you know your password should look like this: d6%FR)kxw@22 but it does not, right? Mine do. So I live with RoboForm bothering me a couple times a day for my easy to remember key.

The Avast password Manager seems not to remember it’s settings. It really makes no difference if I set it for once a day or once a week.

Pretty sure RoboForm is the core of Avast EasyPass.
I think that’s why they partnered up.
Haven’t seen the code personally, so can’t say for sure. Seems odd both Avast and Siber Systems would make press releases about their partnership, if they weren’t sharing something.
Still, I’ll defer to 55 years of happiness. Can’t be wrong, I reckon.

This Password Manager is supposed to be a new product. EasyPass is no longer being used.
I also haven seen the code.

Very well then, I shall attempt to flag/delete my own reply.
That’s bad news for me, I switched to Avast thinking they were incorporating RoboForm into their AV product.
Reckon my search for greener pastures shall continue… Onward and upward, my friend!
Oh, to get back on topic, try the “upon reboot” option. That seems to work for me, although the longest I’ve been able to test it is 1 day 3hrs (according to MS Task Manager)… Since the OS is new, I can’t seem to go more than a day without needing a re-boot for one reason or another!
I like your description of the password manager not remembering its configuration settings though, that’s probably good enough to open a support ticket.
