Passwords "Module Error"

When I open Passwords in Avast Ultimate, I get a red screen in that section of Avast saying, “Module Error. Failed toload PrivacyPasswords. TypeError: Cannot read property 'extend’ofundefined at https://local.avast.com/PrivacyPasswords.js14048:57.

What is the meaning of this error message? How do I get into passwords again? How do I remedy the situation?

I like Passwords and would like to keep using it. Is this part of a discontinuance of Passwords? How do I protect my passwords without Passwords?

I am able to use Passwords to log on to a website, just cannot access it in Avast for editing etc.

Same problem here!W

I’m experiencing this issue as well, since today :frowning:

Same here, whats the issue??? ALL my passwords are in this password manager… Im VERY worried.

Hey peeps, go to Trouble shooting and click repair app. Worked for me!

Same problem for me!

Going to options… troubleshooting and “repair” doesnt work for me. Moreover complete uninstall and clean new installation didnt fix the problem.
Now im in real trouble cause dont have acces to all of my login data and passwords.
As a result of complete new installation of all avast products including avast secure browser i was logged out from all accounts and now i cant login again, because im not able to acces to all and (my only one) login database.

Dear avast support,

!!!please fix this issue as fast as you can!!!, otherwise i will not longer extend my subscription to all of your products because this gets me into real trouble and has nothing to do with reliability, which is in case of whole personal login data & password database the most important point of a password manager!

Regards

Jan

Have been trying to get this fixed since 6th of April with numerous follow ups from me and still have no passwords and have a lovely red screen with module error. Unusual for AVAST not to reply and attempt to fix. Could be cancelling my subscription very quickly.

Does anyone answer these questions? If so where do you read them.

Luckily as consequence of trying to reinstall the avast passwords browser extension in avast secure browser over this link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/avast-passwords/emhginjpijfggbofeediiojmdlmlkoik
and updating it immediately in the browser extension settings (with “developer mode” on), the passwords extension have started to work again and offers me the “auto fill in function” on every website i saved login data before. Also editing of my sites data is possible in the extension. So at least i am able to log in in my accounts again.
But that still didnt fix the main module error problem and theres still no access to the avast passwords application

I’m experiecing the same problem. (Red screen of death).
Tried disabling and enabling the password module. No result.
Tried Menu|SettingsTroubleshooting|Repair App → I get a warning about uninstallexchange.ps1 being blocked because of infection with IDP.ALEXA.53 (I moved it to the vault)
So RepairApp didn’t continue and is not an opiton. I wil not asume this is a false positive.

I guess I’ll have to wait till this is fixed by Avast.
I have access to my passwords on my phone.

hello, Same problem for me!

Hello,
got exactly the same problem. Repair didnt fix it.
Hope Avast will fix it quick…

Same problem here… :frowning:

Same problem here on Windows 10 and Windows 7 … still works on my Android phone - maybe if you know your avast password you can install on your phone as a temp fix peeps?

I’m experiencing the same problem. Have sent a message to Avast.

How do we find out what progress is being made to resolve the problem? Is there a website where these faults are listed together with a time frame for fixing them?

What worked for me,(until the next start up of the system),go to controlpanel, programs&components, doubleclick on Avast Premium Security, choose repair. Not the best solution, but…

Nightmare! I thought I was the only one who had suffered like that.

Hi,

The devs have been informed.
Do not re-install Avast AntiVirus as it might break the connection with the extension, rendering Passwords completely broken.

As a workaround:

  1. try to repair Avast AV (Avast > Menu > Settings > Troubleshooting > Repair App)
  2. go to any website where you stored the login data and click on the orange key icon in the upper right of your browser. The user name should be shown there, select “Details” in order to also access the password.

If this does not work for you, please reply with your version of Windows.

Please accept our apologies.

We will report back here once we have more information.

Same problem here.

Hello, my apologies. Issue is in new UI (v610). Old version is back now. After 24hours or after computer reboot you should have UI version 609 where password manager works again.
