PC freeze after start up

Hello
Since I updated my avast free antivirus to 7.0. 1.4.7.3. my PC doesn´t want to start up anymore. It freezes right away when I log in to my PC account.

Ctlr + Alt + Del won’t work and the only thing I can do is shutting down my pc by pressing the power button for a couple of seconds. Safe mode still works.
Every week I let my pc run a full scan with Windows Defender and Avast. I don’t think it could be some kind of virus. But you never know. :S

Does anyone else have the same issue? Or does anyone knows what I could try to fix it?

pc: Win7, 64-bit.

Thanks, JuliaXx

Hi Julia,
I had the same problem with Avast Pro freezing at start-up. I had a beautiful screen saver of Thomas Kinkade Paintings, but they were not for W7. I also was running Trusteer Raptor.
I removed both and now all is well. I suspect you may have something in your Start programs that are causing the problems.

On my other computer with KIS 2013 I also had the problem. I removed the same programs, but also took Win Patrol and MBAM Pro out of the start with Windows option, and start them later.

I am not very competent with computers, but do suggest you examine your start-up applications, as I suspect that is where the problem lies. I might be well to delay the start of some.

Regards,
Jerry

- Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS)

  • Other security related software installed…??

That information seems to be already in a first post. Avast Free 7.0.1473.

You’re right, I missed it.

FIXED!!!

I used safe mode. Deleted the Avast Free Anti-virus, restarted my pc and now it works fine.

I will try another anti-virus till the avast releases a fix for this.

So glad it works again!

JuliaXx
