pcbeginner cd

:frowning: I downloaded PCbeginner (utility cd) from PCbeginner.org.
When I run Avast! the following files are flagged as trojan malware : win32:dialuppass [tool] , win32:mailpassview [tool] , win32:messen , and win32:netpass [tool.
Should I worry about this?
Thanks in advance , hhandy

Download - update and run Ewido from here http://www.ewido.net/en/ A google search of those files recovers data from A2 and Ewido as trojans

Edit welcome to Avast, I assume you sent these files to the chest ?

A siteadvisor.com check for PCBeginner.org with lnks to the PCBeginner.com site and here there is an issue with one of the other product links from PCBeginner.com to pcsecurityshield.com.

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/pcbeginner.com/summary/

When we tested this site we found links to pcsecurityshield.com, which we found to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other unwanted programs.

Whilst this isn’t directly related to what you downloaded it would make me think twice, it also advises a visit to http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm in relation to pcsecurityshield.

One of the links also poped up a full screen page to an unrequested page, personally I would call it a day on this CD.

However, I would say that there are no siteadvisor isues with it so I suggest the you check the offending/suspect file/s at: Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
