I’m kinda used to deal with those rpc errors but now I’ve got one I can’t get rid of.
I usually follow the procedure of the support but now, it’s different, everything is fine, rpc is started and both avast Antivirus and Avast control service are running, all in automatic mode, the 2 last avast services aren’t running but do start when I click on them.
I’m on XP SP2, I don’t have an other antivirus that might be interfering with it and I already tried to repair and also to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot but the #$%#$?# came back like 2 months after and now I’m getting tired of it. >:(
Can anyone help me to get back loving using Avast as I once did ? :-\
What is the exact error?
What operating system?
Is everything fully up to date? (including ALL drivers)
Avast tells me the AAVM detected an rpc error
by operating system, i don’t understand, isn’t Win XP SP2 your answer ?
And for up to date, I’ve checked yesterday on windows update to make sure everything was ok, for drivers, everything looks fine but I’ll make sure.
Which was your previous antivirus? How did you uninstall it? Anything that come with the machine (OEM)?
I first had McAfee trial version with the computer but I got rid of it, entirely, by following the unistall procedure the program suggested. Avast took 6 months to first bug me with this.
Hmmm… so, there is a possibility of your computer being infected and have destroyed avast installation.
I suggest a full computer on-line scanning: Kaspersky (very good detection rates) ESET NOD32 Trendmicro housecall F-Secure BitDefender (free removal of the malware)
Ok, so I’ve done a scan with Kaspery and didn’t find anything suspect.
I then proceded with some driver updates. After rebooting, everything was back to normal.
I don’t know if its the drivers or the last reboot but when i logged in, i got a message window notifying me my system just recovered from a critical error. I checked the journal which was without any conclusive explanations.
Thanks for the help, I’ll be back if anything goes wrong again
