Persistent "Update Payment Details" Notification / Can't Dismiss Pop-up

Hi everyone, this notification won’t go away, it redirects me to a page to buy a new program, but I don’t need it. How do I remove it? Windows Defender is in a stupor.

I purchased Premium Security on June 12th. However, I am now receiving notifications stating that payment is due on July 18th. This is confusing and doesn’t make sense to me.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

Whilst I use Avast Antivirus Free, these dates seem strange, ordinarily the subscription is for 365 days and your screenshot is showing 371 days remaining.

Did you happen to use the 60 day free trial version of Avast Premium Security ?
That would have required setting up a payment mandate.

I cant understand why your payment details would be an immediate issue given you have 371 days to go. Have you had a debit on that purchase ?

I have been using a paid subscription for several years. I made this payment on June 12th. Today, this notification popped up, which redirects me to the next subscription level with additional apps called “Ultimate” that I don’t need, and there’s no way to disable it.

You should be able to stop these offers.

Managing pop-up notifications in Avast Antivirus Premium

In short, I couldn’t figure it out, so I canceled the subscription — I’ll stick with Defender for now.
Kinda sad, honestly.

Sorry to hear that - what you have to ensure is that your Auto payment mandate is cancelled (not just the subscription) or that could be actioned on the renewal date.

I am having this issue as well. Payment details are up to date, but I can’t get the notification to go away. It is causing an alert icon on the system tray icons for both Avast, and Microsoft Security (as Microsoft Security is registering it as something needing to be resolved in Avast). I have also got the notifications set to the same as in the image earlier in the thread.

Hi and thank you for reporting this issue. Sorry about the trouble!

We just released a fix addressing this problem. Can you please close Avast window and then reopen it?

If the problem persists, please restart the computer and check again.

I’m having this problem too. I’m going to uninstall it to see if that fixes it.

It was fixed by reinstalling, but it shouldn’t work like that.

image Even when I tell it to check for an update, it says it is up to date, restarting has been done multiple times already.

Sorry about the confusion, this was a fix on our backend, addressing the logic of this status being shown in the user interface. This change is not visible in version number.

Do you still see that status message today?

Yes, and just as further info, this is what Microsoft Security shows, since it is displaying an alert icon on the system tray as well:

and once I click on that box (as opposed to clicking on the part to open Avast), it brings up another box.

This is the other box that comes up:

Thank you @Delusor , we checked these logs and this seems to be a different problem than the one described above.

We will try to get this issue fixed as well, but in the meantime, can you please try reinstalling Avast Premium Security by following the steps below?

  1. Uninstall Avast Premium Security using the Uninstall Tool: How to use the Avast Uninstall Tool | Avast
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Download and install Avast Premium Security back: How to install Avast Premium Security | Avast
  4. Activate your subscription: How to activate Avast Premium Security | Avast

Please let me know if it worked.

It worked, for about a day and half, but it has resumed doing it.

Sorry to hear that! I see you’ve contacted our support directly.

I asked my colleagues to reach out to you asap to troubleshoot this issue.
