Avast is not working right i done everything to try and fix it,
It will not update it said that the files where bad so i uninstalled avast and reinstalled avast
and still did not fix it,
so i restore my pc and still notting avast just will not work anymore on my pc no matter how many times
i uninstall it and reinstall, it just will not update at all i don’t know what has happend this all started after i install the 4.8 beta it was ok for a few days and then this!
i really want to have avast on my pc again but i cannot fix this? i am useing Avira antiVir personalEdition classic for now it seems to work ok and it seems good but i would like to have avast again but just can not get it to work!
its not that my firewall is stopong it or anything its just when i launch from the shortcut and try to update it just sits there doing notting same also from the taskbar!
hai iga it might cause conflict if you have two anti-virus program. So try to uninstall two of this anti-virus program and after that install avast ( Restart the computer when it need ) than wait for the avast to update and if it still not updating than i need to think. Oh ya did you registered avast? And what window your using ?
i put that on my pc after i uninstalled avast all together
so i could have some kind of security for my pc!
but it was not on my pc befor that or while
i had avast on my pc!
OK well try to check some of the forum that might help you out form this problem by writing update problem on the search tool bar on top of the avast. Go here if you can get it http://forum.avast.com/index.php?action=search2
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again / update to beta?
yeah i have done all of that now and i can still not update to the beta
still give me the same error?
One thing i did see in c programs Alwil software folder is there is two folders name Avast4 and Avast4(2) in Avast4(2) its like some files and folders are gone but there is a few still there,
they are DATA(2) ENGLISH(2) images(2) Setup(2) and a DefTasks XML Document 21KB.
i did try to delete that folder but it will not let me!
in the other folder that says Avast4 all of the files and folders are there i think its the other folder Avast4(2)
thats stoping me from updateing to beta some how?
i just can not delete that folder no matter what i do? the error says if i try to delete that folder Avast4(2) can not delete 400.vps access is denied make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

It would probably be best to first Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall avast 4.7.1098…
Did you run the uninstall utility as Tech mentioned in item 3 as that should have removed the folders. However since you have some renamed folders, the ones with (2) may not get removed as it wouldn’t be expecting that.
It is essential to reboot between stages.
After running the uninstall utility, check and ensure the Alwil Software folder and all sub folders have been removed.
Then and only then, install avast 4.7.1098 (the current regular release), reboot and enter your registration key again.
Check that your installation has completed correctly only one avast4, data, English folder, etc. If so then using the aswbeta.exe try to update to the 4.8 beta.
i did run the uninstaller but it did not work on any of does files i just could not get them deleted

If you still cant deleted the Avast4(2) than try download this software by going this website http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ and use this program to delete the Avast4(2)
i was able to delete that Avast4(2) folder and files it did work, they are gone now
and i did reinstall avast but i still cannot update to the beta i’m still getting that same error!
