Did you check your system date as it suggested?
Was it correct (month and year)? - if not did you correct it and input the key again as suggested?
How long have you been using avast and which version of avast are you using?
when you right click av icon go to about avast
your licence reg should be there if not at the bottom is the are where you enter your new licence key
hope this helps
I am getting this same message. I’m using avast! 4.8. My system clock is correct. I tried to repair the installation, and got a message “Error processing packages. Please use full update.” OK, so I tried a full update -
You are using an old program version (latest is 4.8.1229), whilst I don’t believe that is the cause fault finding on an out of date version is not very worthwhile.
So if you download the latest version first and use that when you reinstall.
Yeah, it wouldn’t let me get updates, because the license key was disabled. This has been happening for a few weeks, I finally decided to do something about it.
When I went to my email to retrieve the key, I remembered that when I first got this computer and installed avast!, about four months ago, there was something weird happened where it wouldn’t accept the key. I was copying it directly from the email, taking care to not include any extraneous spaces, and pasting it, so I don’t know why. Finally the program seemed to stop complaining that it was wrong and took it. This must have been related to that.
In any case, I have reinstalled it and all is well.
I always download the latest version when I install ;D
There was if I remember correctly some systems experienced this temp disabled license on more recent posts than this almost three year old one. I don’t think it was after version 4.8.1201 though.
The main thing is that you have the latest version and the key is now working.
You’re correct; on Saturday when I decided to finally solve this, this thread was the first result when I did a search for the text of the error, for some reason. Trying it today brings up one result which is much more recent. But I figured it’s better to bump an old thread, than to make a new one.
