I understand that advertising is a part of “free” software but I really don’t understand that paying Avast Pro users suddenly get a “this email is free from viruses” signature. Without any notification to the user. Many of my customers are quite angry about this. Maybe I should recommend some other virus protection from now on.
Are you are talking about the “clean note” in incomming/outgoing mail? … if so it can be turned off
GUI>Settings>Active Protection>Mail Shield settings(sprocket)>Behavior>untick the desired box
The ‘clean’ note: It is very desirable that the email sender demonstrates that he/she has exercised due diligence by ensuring that an email has been checked for malware.
Of course it can be turned off but it’s quite annoying that it was turned on without any notification to the user. People don’t like advertisements suddenly showing up on business emails they are sending. These things should be turned off by default if you are paying for your Avast.
Just like all other AV programs that have email scanners included this feature is turned on in all of them by default, at least avast gives you the option to turn it off if unwanted.
I disagree - quite the opposite in fact. It is easy to insert false messages indicating that the email has been scanned when it hasn’t, thus creating a false sense of security. Every user needs to take responsibility for scanning everything that comes in to their computer.
