I recently contacted tech support for help and they said to run Avast boot-time scan, Malwarebyte and Adwcleaner.
On the first boot AvastSvc used 1 to 2% cpu usage. Running a browser or outlook Express set AvastSvc running at 51% or more. Total cpu usage was 100%. After 5 or 10 minutes usage dropped back into the 2% pange. Very soon however, AvastSvc went to 51% and stayed there for the rest of the time I have been using the computer.
Also I get a popup screen from www.2015-isp-survey.com occasionly. It asks about my experience on the optonline web site. It is malware.
Attach all of the first three program logs in your next reply. Additional programs may be requested after your malware expert examines the (four) logs produced from the link above.
I have been searching the Internet and found hundreds of hits on this problem. Many people are reporting that the latest release of Avast does not work well with Firefox. Whenever I start Firefox, AvastSvc.exe goes to 50% CPU usage and more and will stay there for a long time.
I have been using the search term, “AvastSvc.exe high cpu usage”
I installed the latest version of Avast (103.2223) and so far the CPU usage does come back down to 1 or 2% after a few minutes after starting Firefox. I will report back if the problem returns.
I spoke too soon. Right after sending my message I ran Outlook Express. As soon as I clicked the Send/Receive button AvastSvc.exe usage went to 51% and stayed there. Unloading OE did not change the cpu usage.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
[*]Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
[*]Select additions at the bottom
[*]Press Scan button.
Going through these steps I am stuck on installing Avast. It is near the end trying to install aswNdis. I have waited for an hour or so and it still isn’t finished. Also Firefox cannot find any web sites, “Server not found.” Looks like Avast installation has choked trying to access the Internet.
I am using another computer to send this message. What do I do now?

I tracked down the netsession routine. It is by Akamai to improve downloading apps from the Internet. It tells Windows firewall to not interfere with downloads.
