pop up alerts

how do i get the pop ups that are alerting me of malicious or blocked things. it gets in the way on my screen. thanks

isnt that the hole point when you have a AV…to tell you when it detect or block something bad?

You could start by giving us some information on the pop-up alerts, screenshot of the alert window.

Many instances of this are an indication that you have a hidden infection that it trying to get out to download more of the same or upload data and avast is blocking that. This however is speculation on my part as we have no information to work with.

I also have a question about this. I seem not to be able to stop some useless alerts like the information alerts. The best way I have been able to deal with them is to make them pop up for 1 second and then they appear and disappear quickly at least. It is annoying. I should have more control about what alerts I receive. Peronally I do not care whether I am alerted about the status of my antivirus all the time. I only care if I am alerted about an infection. If a virus or worm is detected, then I want to see an alert, or if my definitions are out of date more than a week, then I want to see an alert (because obviously something is wrong then), but otherwise, a little hush please. Are there settings somewhere to control this? Thank you.

Are you referring to the green or blue popups versus the red ones?

Yes, I personally was referring to the blue alerts, which I have set to 1 second, because I first tried 0 seconds (thinking this would disable them, but it did not work). They pop up and disappear, which is a workaround for me. The original poster may have been talking about red alerts, which I personally have set to 60 seconds because i want to read them carefully if they ever appear. I have never seen one yet. But I am guessing/don’t know what they really meant. For more info about my concern which is cosmetic, please re-read my first post. Thanks.

The blue alert is letting you know about the new version that is available for upgrade or download. Yes, it can be a nag screen, but you have set it to the minimum level, and you can always “X” out of it. For now there is nothing that can be done except to upgrade, but my understanding is that there may be another upgraded version coming out in the next several weeks. So do you want to live with it for a little longer is up to you.

The red screen, which luckily you have not seen, is when you encounter malware, and Avast alerts you. That screen you DO want to read, so again you did the correct thing.
