Popups from other Avast products...

I’ll gladly pay $10 just to stop those incessantly annoying ad popups.

I upgraded to Avast Pro once, don’t like some premium features, and I have no use for the rest. Sometime after I let the subscription expire, I got an offer for Avast Pro for $9.99 for 1 year, and I took it, ONLY to get rid of the Avast ad popups. As far as anti-virus software goes, I always recommend Avast to everyone, but everything else is useless to me; between Avast Free, Auslogics Boostspeed (better than grime fighter, and it’s a 1-time purchase, not a yearly subscription), a $40/year VPN, Windows, DD-WRT, and modem firewalls, my custom HOSTS file, and good ol’ common sense, I haven’t contracted any malware or remote attacks since early 2000’s.

My point is, just because those popups keep trying to “inform” me about more security measures I can get from Avast, doesn’t mean I’m going to buy into them…especially since I already tried some premium products, and it was just a waste of my money. So please, give me a donate license, or something, just so I can turn off those stupid Avast product popups.

You can disable the ads in the paid versions.
Avast GUI → Settings → Popups

Just as info :

  • Grimefighter has been gone for well over a year.
  • Opera has a free VPN build in.

No duh “Sherlock”, but paying $30+ every year, just to turn off ad popups, is a rip-off. Did you even read the first line of my post?!

Didn’t know Opera has a built-in VPN, but that’s not the point. All I want is Avast Anti-virus, and nothing else; I don’t need another firewall, or the sandbox, or a file “shredder”, or whatever they’re trying to sell me. Now I have to pay for features I’ll never use, instead of just paying a reasonable fee to get rid of ads…$5 or $10 is all I’m asking for no popups.

You’re missing the point entirely.

Well, there’s nothing like a “donate license” to disable the ads in free Avast.

Having avast free running in a test environment (vm) and haven’t seen a single pop-up in the months that it is there.

Most likely since you aren’t running it as your actual AV on a day to day basis.
The popups are there. If you don’t like them, pay for a license and shut them up.
In the free version, simply close the popup window and ignore it. Use a custom install and don’t install any of the
components that require payment in order to work.
Your computer, your choice.

It is running on a daily base.
Don’t know if it has anything to do with it, but I did disable the promotions for Chrome.

I know there’s no “donate” license, this is the only way I could plant the idea. You have to be a paid subscriber just to email the company directly and discretely. If I wait for another $9.99 offer, I’ll get bombarded with ads & promotions that just further infuriate me for several months. There are countless websites (not just porn sites) that offer an ad-free version of their site for a reasonable fee, or donation, so why not implement an antivirus-only license for $5 or $10, NOT $30+, just so I can turn off Avast ads?!
