Hi all,
I had a question about a file that was being installed on my computer today from a program called GameGuard. It’s supposed to be an Anti-Hacking Program used for the Game CrossFire. This game is a Free to Play game and I have checked with their forums about this file and many Avast users saying that they have had Avast detect a Trojan/Worm in this file.
I have also sent the file to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and here are the results

Now the GM’s or Moderators at the Games Forums say that this file is a False Positive and not to worry, and that GameGuard would not let a virus in their program. I am worried because this is a brand new computer and I do NOT want it infected. Is there a way I can send this to Avast or somewhere else to be 100% possitive it is not a virus?
I would also suggest you also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner currently 40 scanners and report the findings here just post the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page.
If you’re sure about the origin of that file, yeah, it could be a false positive.
I wish Alwil team confirm the detection. Until there, if you could, do not use that game.
Yes there is still room for doubt as there is no detection with a specific malware signature all are suspicious/heuristic/generic which are more prone to misdetection, so you were right to submit the sample to avast for further analysis.

I hope polonus isn’t watching as there are a few heuristic detections in these results ;D
