I’m unsure what the problem is as I hardly use my pc and have only been playing games and social media nothing out of the norm… I’m highly PC competent but after every attempt nothing has been working…but here it is.

Logs attached, thank you for your time.

hey a malware expert will help you when one is online.

Thank you

Aghh I hate this error as it is a catch all for any problem at all.

THEN

Could you open an elevated command prompt
Go Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator
In the black box that opens type :

sfc /scannow

After it has completed reboot and then try Avast again

Thanks for you reply :). It’s amazing how many people have had this problem but no fixes for it!

As you said see attached the logs, one after the fix, and the other after the quick scan.
Did the sfc and rebooted and still the same error occurs, very suborn!

Unfortunately it could be another programme accessing a memory area that Avast has put its marker on. What have you done so far ? I.e. installs/repairs/reinstalls etc

I’ve tried;
-Uninstalling
-Used Avast removal tool in Safemode. Then downloaded a fresh Avast and installing, white box appears then disappears
-Tried various other anti viruses, these wont install AT ALL.
-tools used; S&D, windows defender, tdsskiller, MBRcheck. All showing my system is clear.
-Booted into Windows repair mode, ‘windows found nothing to repair’ + sfc /scannow. Etc.
-System restore to when it lasted worked, error still pops up

Might have to delete everything of its existence, with windows cleanup or something?

Nope lets run a quick check for conflicts

Next we will check for driver conflicts

Step 1: Start MSConfig

Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure Selective Startup options

1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

2.Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.

3.Click the Services tab.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/cleanboot2.JPG

4.Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
5.Click Disable All, and then click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.

Once back in windows does the problem still occur ?

Followed as instructed, yes the error still pops up. :-\

OK reset MSConfig back to as it was… Have you tried setting Avast to start after system services ?

As I can’t even open avast, I tried on the windows services to delayed, but nothing will accept changes. ALL installers crash too if that’s any help, this machine is hardly even a year old too.

Removing every trace of avast on my matchine and opening the install does nothing. The small white box opens for 5 seconds and disappears.

Do you experience the same problem in safe mode ? As this sounds more like a system (maybe RAM) problem than anything else

I do yes, I’ve ran a windows memory diagnostic and it cleared fine.

Unfortunately this is one of those errors for which there is no specific solution, not even TechNet has a sensible answer, I do not believe you have malware on the system. Although if you wish we could run a deep scan

Thanks for your time, I dont think a deeper scan is need as I also believe it isn’t virus related :). Cheers anyway!

Sorry that I could not provide a definitive answer for you, but if this occurs for all installs I would then recommend a full reinstall
