Possible malware Win32: malware-gen/evo-gen

Hello, could someone please help me see if I’m infected with the Win32: malware-gen/evo-gen? A few days ago I started to get alerts from avast stating that a suspicious object has been detected and since then a number of objects have been sent to the virus vault under the name Win32: evo-gen all under the program files\trend micro\internet security\temp folder. I also ran a boot scan and the Win32: malware-gen is found but it will not let me do anything with the file including sending it to the virus vault. When I bought the computer a few years ago it had a free trend micro trial but I never activated it as I always used avast so I’m not sure if this is a false positive. I attached all the logs I ran thus far and MBAM found nothing.

Trend Micro is running on your system with at least 7 drivers

Uninstall instructions are here http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1037161.aspx

Uninstalled Trend Micro and after another boot scan, the Win32: malware-gen is still coming up. It says it is located in a cab file associated with the Kodak Share Button. I also attached a log for aswMBR if needed.

That would be a false positive, how is the computer otherwise ?

I haven’t noticed anything different so far. I was just a little worried since I never ran into this problem before. Is there anything else I should run to be sure? Also should I uninstall all the tools used for the scans and how do I get the file to stop coming up when I run the boot scan if its a false positive?

essexboy will remove the Tools used when all is OK
boot scan is not meant to be used as a regular scanner, it is a special tool you use if avast have problems removing a infection, or if avast tell you to run it

Normal virus scan comes up clean and there have been no more alerts from avast since removing Trend Micro. Anything else I should do next?

essexboy is in bed now, check back tomorrow

Ok, I will thanks for the response Pondus.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear
Select More Options tab

If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
