Possible to get Malware via Avast Software Updater?

Avast Software Updater reported I needed to update Adobe AIR. I clicked the fix now button and it all updated.
Shortly afterwards, Prevx 3.0 reported an infection of High Risk Cloaked Malware in Adobe Air Updater.exe - a file that was just updated. Prevx directs me to buy their clean-up license for the malware.

But as I’d updated via the Avast Software Updater links, I’m guessing this is a false positive. I assume that the updater isn’t going to send me to a dodgy download. Or is that reasoning wrong?

Quick scans with Avast and Malwarebytes came out clean. I’m running fuller scans now.

hey you should not run two antivirus programs at the same time. they will conflict and will give false threat.

there is nothing in avast or there component that is malware. so that is a false threat from prevx.

Thank you mikaelrask. I checked with Prevx too and they withdrew their malware verdict alert for the Adobe AIR update. (Doesn’t stop the same infected message popping up every time I update Adobe AIR though.)
I thought I’d thank you here before but apparently not, so thanks!

hey your welcome. but you should remove either Prevx or avast your choice. i would suggest you remove Prevx, but just my advise.
