Possible URL:Mal infection in svchost.exe

Hi,

I found few similar posts on this forums re URL:Mal infection in svchost.exe, so would like to nicely ask someone to look into attached logs and advice about next steps / cleaning.

The message I was getting from Avast was as follows:
URL: [few different ones]
Infection: URL: Mal
Process: C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe

However, after running Malwarebytes the message is no longer appearing (at least now).

Logs have been collected as per instructions in this topic:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

Many thanks,
R

Hi essexboy,

Thank you very much for taking your time to sort this out, much appreciated!

Looking at the log files (attached) all seems to be fine now

Can you possibly elaborate a little bit more what is causing this behaviour? I know it’s malware, but anything more specific? This dodgy proxy entry looked very worrying and was reappearing when I was deleting registry keys manually.

Kind regards,
R

BITSAdmin is deprecated and is not guaranteed to be available in future versions of Windows. Administrative tools for the BITS service are now provided by BITS PowerShell cmdlets.

These were the culprits, has the proxy setting returned ?

No, proxy is now disabled - I checked it via AdwCleaner & then manually via regedit.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version
