Precautions for Windows 10 Anniversary Update?

Hi All

Precautions prior to installing the Anniversary update? should Avast be uninstalled first prior to doing the update? not sure if gonna do a clean install or do it via Windows update as yet, this one I wanna get onto Windows 10 Pro fully, right now I can’t select users for Remote Desktop, guess a bug from Windows 10 Home to Pro Upgrade issue as was mentioned in Microsoft Answers forum. Another forum is recommending folks uninstall 3rd party Antiviruses and uses Defender to avoid issues for the update

Create a image of the system as it is now.
If something goes wrong, put back the image.

No need to uninstall anything prior to the update.
Everything should go well, unless MS screws up.

Ok that relaxes me now, already got Image done, verified it as well, did that after my WIndows 10 Home to Pro Upgrade in June, so think all good at this point then

Yup, all sounds good to me.

Hope Windows Anniversary update goes well w/Avast! on 2nd Aug. :stuck_out_tongue: Avast! team are you ready for this?
For safety i am going to uninstall Avast! and put WD.When it done i will back to Avast!.I am not going to taking any chances. But hope avast! not going to interfere with Windows Anniversary update.

All Files backed up, Hoping all goes well as well, time ticking away daily here, a few more files to make sure backed up tomorrow, prepare a few more things on this System, and my second in house Windows 10 System.

There hasn’t been any problems with Avast installed and all of the many Insider Preview updates.
Why remove Avast ??? If you remove Avast, you should also remove any other programs that scan files for the same reason.
From experience, it hasn’t been necessary for the previous builds and shouldn’t be needed for the Anniversary update due on 8/2/2016.

The safest way is to keep a backup image before doing the anniversary update - that way if anything happens, you can revert back.

Yup backup image all done already, a few more files to backup manually since last did the image, misc pictures, documents, and such. Prepared more so than I was for November update lol on my old HP system

+1.I know that Avast! not going to interfere with Windows Anniversary update. But never know with WU.

+1
From early beginning with Windows Insider Preview, I had no issues updating any beta versions with Avast installed and enabled

What are you trying to say ???
Your comment indicates uninstalling Avast before allowing a Windows update which is sheer nonsense. :o

I am not going to uninstalled Avast! if not needed.

Tomorrow the Windows 10 Anniversary update will be available…

I will leave Avast installed and hope it goes well.

I will be turning off all programs that scan files prior to doing the update.
Avast, Malwarebytes, WnPatrol, WinPatrol AntiRansome

I will also not be doing anything online during the update.

That’s good, I’ve kept a backup image and hope Avast won’t mess anything up.

Don’t forget that such updates don’t come as a "surprise ".
Software Developers like Avast spend much time in advance at the Microsoft campus in Redmond to prepare for it.

Greetz, Red.

Been running the anniversary update for an hour now, disabled avast prior to installing, no issues to report.

Running fine.

Also cleaned installed Win 10 anniversary update on another PC which worked perfect too.

Which tool did you use to create the update media ???

Here you go Bob: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Download the media creation tool - make sure you download a new copy since it’s been updated.

Then you have the choice to upgrade the PC, create an ISO or create USB install.
