Preferences - Browser

Good morning, Slowly getting to grips with Avast for Linux. I’m running Mint 13. I have overcome the invalid argument problem when updating by using gedit. Now I want to set my preferences in the tool menu. I do not use Firefox, preferring Google Chrome - but this is not listed in the drop down box. It seems that I am required to enter a run command using %s for the URL. I have no idea where to find the run command. Can anybody help please.
Thanks in advance.
Richard

Hello, and welcome RichardSlipper !

I'm running Mint 13. I have overcome the invalid argument problem when updating by using gedit.
Please expand; some details as to why you're having to use 'gedit' would be helpful.

Simply, Avast!4Linuxworkstations is a GUI based AV scanner for use on Linux Distros.
Here’s the Gui:

The GUI has a simple “Update Database” button. Clicking on it will do just that.

As far as Tools > Preferences > Web browser – Change to Google Chrome.
Chromium is what I have installed, just a package preference from the developers.

Personally I’d ask at your distros’ Forum as to the run command for Google Chrome. If you’d like to play; open a Terminal and type – “Google Chrome” (without the quotes).
If Google Chrome launchs you have the ‘run command’.

More importantly though, “RichardSlipper”, this option of ‘Web browser’ is provided, but I have never needed to use it, in fact I couldn’t think of a function that required it, sorry.

Basically:
1.) Update the Database.
2.) Select what area to scan.
3.) For your Report, I select what’s on the Pic.

4.) I don’t feel I need an Email, as I’m just a single User. If I was part of a Network it would be an option the Admin may want.

If the default size of the Log File isn’t to your liking, you could change that.

5.) Once you have Updated the Database, Selected what Area to Scan, simply “Start Scan”.

All the best !
