Privacy Guard paused for many websites.

I used to used Adblock when I was on Chrome and when I came over to the Avast Secure Browser I thought Privacy Guard would do what Adblock did with regards to stopping ads.

So imagine my surprise when it says that it’s paused on numerous websites so you get the ads anyway. There doesn’t seem to be a way to un-pause it on all sites so that you can choose which sites to have ads and trackers blocked on and which to not do so. If anyone offer a solution I’d be most grateful.

I tried to turn Privacy Guard off completely and tried to download Adblock from the Chrome app store but a warning came up from Avast saying it was dangerous because it changes your data and that of the sites you visit.

Hi Sunami,

Try to set the Privacy Guard to the Strict mode:

Go to Security and Privacy Center (green checkmark or under three dots menu) →
Privacy Guard → Settings → Strict Blocking

It should help because in general we use less strict Basic or Balanced modes.

Thanks Jiří, I tried it and it works, although there was a warning about sites potentially not loading properly and other glitches when you go into ‘strict’ mode. I’ll just have to try it for a while and see if I can live with it. Thanks again.
