Problem booting Windows Vista - aswrvrt.sys

Hi,
My computer doesn’t start Windows Vista even in safe mode, it stops loading driver
aswrvrt.sys. Some other details:

  1. It is a Toshiba Satellite L40, with Windows Vista SP2
  2. I’ve tried to repair windows several times, but it doesn’t fix anything; so I couldn’t
    load windows in normal neither safe mode. Even more, there isn’t any repair point available
    to use.
  3. Also I’ve run chkdsk /f /r (and other hard disk tools) over the hard disk to repair it. No
    great errors found, so I think the hdd is ok.
  4. Find attached the FRST log

I would appreciate any help, I hope not need to reinstall the SO

I will try a reg backup first

Download the attached fixlist to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal boot

Hi again essexboy,
Only one more question (no hurry to get an answer) and just for my couriosity (and to avoid the same problem in the future): what was the problem origin in my case? Maybe a windows update problem or avast update problem?

Unfortunately this is one problem with thousands of causes

In your case it may have been a corruption of the registry
