I have a FRST.txt file but don’t see how to attach it, Thank you.
have you looked below the box you write in? … Attachments and other options
and we need both logs from FRST
experts will be back online tomorrow
Thank you, I was focused on a paper clip…
Attached is the FRST.txt log
What happened prior to the non-booting ?
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
I think my mother purchased an avast subscription or upgrade but am not sure.
Did the system boot after the fix ?
The system did not boot, still hung at aswrvrt.sys
This will stop all Avast drivers from loading
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
Boot was not successful. When attempting to boot in safe mode it hangs at Mup.sys
OK then we are looking at a system problem
Access the system bios and change the boot device from IDE to SATA or vice versa and then try a boot

I am not able to locate a place to change the drive type. The HDD is ide.
Are you sure you cannot change it to SATA
No, i don’t see a way to change the HDD type. It’s section is grayed out in the BIOS screen from editing.
Unfortunately there is little else that can be done now maybe a repair of XP http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/138-how-to-repair-windows-xp/
