[Problem] How to Resolve Avast Antivirus Update

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with updating Avast Antivirus on my device. Whenever I try to run the update, it either fails, gets stuck, or doesn’t seem to complete properly. I’m not sure what’s causing the problem or how to fix it.
I’ve tried basic troubleshooting, but the problem is still there

Not entirely sure what ‘basic troubleshooting’ means ?

Have you tried an Avast Repair ?

  • AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Repair APP - Restart after completion.

I had the same problem than KevinPierce, no possibility no update the virus database with the following message :

AVAST - maj base anti-virus - Capture d’écran 2025-04-28 073844

and yes I have tried an Avast Repair. Thanks in advance for your help !

I am also getting this error. Its been for around a week now. Ive repaired, restarted and even uninstalled but it hasn’t fixed it!

Same issue, last version of virus definitions 4May2025 (ver 250504-4).

Avast One version : Release date 25 April 2025 (ver 25.4.6158 - build 25.4.10068.933)

retried update, tried repair, which completed “successfully”, restarted, still fails to update.

Any solution yet ? Tried contacting support but no success yet

Well for Avast Antivirus free there is a 24.5.xxxx version available.

I don’t know if that is the same for Avast One

new version of app & virus definitions loaded today (there’s a coincidence …) so now all up to date.
new versions are :
app : Rel date 28 May 2025,15:03 (ver 25.5.6162 - build 25.5.10141.762)
virus defs : Rel date 28 May 2025, 15:53 (ver 250528-4)

Suggest you check your versions & contact support if not as recent as these.
