We handle patching with Cloudcares Patch Management.
I’ve included PDF-XChange Editor to be included in the scans and automatic patching.
The problem: The PDF-XChange Editor calls another application to do the updating: “PDF-XChange Updater”. The updater works up until the point of installation/updating, where it then presents an Elevated Command Prompt, asking for Admin privileges.
Can the patching be finetuned, other than the group policies “Patch Management” tab?
Or maybe somebody has an idea how to make the updater launch with local admin privileges? I assume that Avast can launch other applications with it’s own privileges, which should be very high, otherwise patching other software wouldn’t work either.
I would also be happy for more resources to delve into, so far I could only find:
