Lately I’ve been having a problem when I try to restart the system.
It hangs and a small warning appears telling me a program is not
responding. Unfortunately I cannot read the full path because
the full path to the offending executable is to long to shown on
the small window. It starts: “Trd ww: C:\Program Files\Alwill\Soft…”
I’ve removed AVAST and reinstalled it but problem still occurs.
Any help much appreciated.
Can you check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).
In XP/Vista, is there any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’?
Set the log level to “Debug” could give us a clue.
The log is: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Debug.log
Isn’t there any file called unp… in that folder?

I have had a proccess in my pc(found by task manager>proccesses tab) called ashDisp.exe and it was always locking up my pc. It even reverted my pc from XP to 2000 a few times! :o When I end it the pc is completely stable. I found out it belongs to avast! internet security by web search. Help! ???
