Problem shutting down

Lately I’ve been having a problem when I try to restart the system.
It hangs and a small warning appears telling me a program is not
responding. Unfortunately I cannot read the full path because
the full path to the offending executable is to long to shown on
the small window. It starts: “Trd ww: C:\Program Files\Alwill\Soft…”

I’ve removed AVAST and reinstalled it but problem still occurs.
Any help much appreciated.

Regards

Joaquin

Can you check the folder \data\log
Are there any files called unpXXXX there (where XXXX is a random number)?
If so, send them to vlk (at) avast.com
They may contain more information about the problem (maybe a link to this thread).

In XP/Vista, is there any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’?

Thanks for replying.

Event Viewer does not show any errors.

Log folder shows the following logs and content:

aswBoot.log
aswMaiSv.log
nshield.log
Notice.log
Setup.log

Do let me know if you need more information.
Many thanks for your help, it’s much appreciated.

Joaquin

Set the log level to “Debug” could give us a clue.
The log is: C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Debug.log
Isn’t there any file called unp… in that folder?

Have set log to debug.

There are no files with unp in them.

Will check debug log later an let you know.

Joaquin

OK sorry for the delay in coming back.

The executable responsible for holding up shutdown/restart is ashDisp.exe.

The debug.log reads:

Thanks

Sorry one more thing.
