I installed the newest version of avast today and I notice when I go to the update page that the following is listed,where it says “connection”,it says next to it,“connection not established”. Does this mean I won’t get any automatic updates??? Thanks all,BTW using windows 7
I just checked and it said,“connection established”,I waited a few minutes and checked again it it reverted back to,“connection not established”,but in either case the streaming updates say,“enabled”,anyone else have this problem,if it even is a problem,I happen to be a novice with computers so any help would be greatly appreciated,had no problems at all with the last version of avast.
No I haven’t done that,like I said its going from connection to connection not established,doing it on both computers I d/l’ed their latest version onto. Will I get normal updates if I don’t register. I’m not a new avast user,this seems to be a new function in the latest release. I’m just a little leery about registering. BTW could someone tell me how to post a screen shot here,maybe that could better explain my problem.
Is this to do with the display in the Summary screen of the avastUI (see image) ?
If so - this is totally unrelated to your avast registration or getting the regular auto virus definition updates.
The connection established (or not) relates to the Avast Account, which isn’t critical, the idea is to be able to manage your various avast versions (if you have it installed on more than one system) through this avast account.
Well yes and no,if I go to the summary page it says I’m not connected to any avast account,however I was actually referring to the update page in the maintenance section. Under the current version,release date and last update attempt theres the following,
In addition to regular definition updates avast uses streaming updates,etc. Under that is the following
Streaming updates Enabled (btw,this is always enables weather the connection is established or not established)
Conection Now this will say either,connection established,or connection not established. It seems to change from one to the other itself. My main question is will I get my normal updates like I always did which I have set for every 240 minutes?.
As long as my normal updates come on schedule I feel OK.
The streaming update connection is over and above the regular virus definitions update (and unconnected), it is there for any new virus definition that is considered urgent enough not to wait for the next regular auto update (where it would be also included I believe).
