Hi,
I have Avast P/S 21.10.2498
running in Windows 10 ver (21H2) (Build 19044.1415)
On my Desktop PC. I get Avast notifications
In the system tray each time an application accesses the network.
I have installed the same version of Avast on
My laptop which is running the same Windows O/S
As my desktop PC.
I can’t get it to show the Avast notifications, like I described above.
I have gone through the settings of Avast on both the laptop and the desktop
at the same time comparing settings and they are both the same.
Windows notifications are working ok for other apps on my laptop?
I am stuck for reasons to why it does NOT work.
Has anyone got any suggestions to why it isn’t working?
See screenshot attached…
Thank You…
Hi,
If the Avast settings are the same on both devices, please try to repair Avast. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Repair-Antivirus/
@r@vast
Thanks for your answer r@vast.
I tried the repair. Still no Joy!
I just installed a fresh version of Avast P/S (latest version)
On a Windows 11 PC.
I get no notification when applications access the network.
I get no notifications when a web page is blocked due to it
Containing Malicious code.
I think these 2 options have been removed from the NEW version of Avast?
Can you confirm YES or NO?
Thanks
Nope. Are you running Avast in Silent Mode or DND-Mode…!?
Hi,
Is the avast icon present (even hidden) on your taskbar?
If it does not appear at all, check that avast is not unchecked from the applications that should appear in the taskbar and check that notifications are enabled

TY, Asyn
No, silent mode is not on.
DND-Mode was not installed, so no option to turn it on/off
see screenshot.
Any more ideas are welcome?
TY, Chris, Avast Icon is active and animated in the system tray,
and is active on the task bar when it is minimized.
Update to the latest version (21.11): https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=310650.0
It is still present in 21.11, note I never installed 21.10.
See, my reply here - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=311533.msg1670392#msg1670392
I don’t think Asyn wanted him to update for this dual application reason but rather because he noted:
I have Avast P/S 21.10.2498I also thought it might have something to do with the problem of Flourgrader, but with his last answer , I don't think so
Finally, it doesn’t matter if he goes and checks the system settings (systray notif)
Here is my Update: And Thank you, all for the reply’s
Ok, I got another PC, brand spanking new installation of windows 11.
Windows Version 11:
21H2(OS Build 22000.376)
Avast Version
21.11.2500 (build 21.11.6809.528)
I still have no notifications coming up when
When an application accesses the network,
or when a bad site is blocked.
Are you sure Avast have NOT removed this option?

you may be able to influence the firewall settings:
choose “ask” instead of “smart”.
You can also edit the “default rule” of each application separately.
Thanks Chris,
Yes, your suggestion does work if you change to Ask Mode.
Also the dialogue boxes that appear are different as you will see from the screenshots I have provided.
The problem with that option, is it asks for every single connection which makes it impossible to use as I am having to say YES or NO All the time hence, I am getting no work done on my PC.
When the old version in the old GUI was running in SMART MODE
It did its job perfectly, notification appeared to tell you sites had been blocked or programs had accessed the network.
Not all of the notifications are broken.
I took a screenshot after a virus check had run and the notification opened automatically.

With the default settings you’re only asked if there is a new connection. It’s silent for everything else.
Thank you, bob3160,
For your very definitive answer,
that Avast has removed the 2 options
been discussed in this above thread.
I spent 2 days looking at whether it was Avast or windows 11
that was preventing the notifications from appearing.
So, I think it is time to put this one to bed.
As so many people have looked at this topic I would like to finish off
by saying that Avast has not removed the code from its program that allowed the above options to work they merely removed the option to use it.
As I did find a work around, which would allow me to see and use the 2 missing options.
See Screenshots attached:
This was only done as a test,
It did not involve me changing any code in Avast.
As I do not know how it would affect the stability of the software,
I did a full uninstall of Avast, then
I reinstalled Avast to the PC with its original default settings.
Thank you for reading my thread.
