Problem with Virus Databse update home edition 4.7, databse version 000739-3

Hi, I apologise if this subject has been talked about in the past. I have done a search, but couldnt find anything relevant…

When I connect to the internet I get a message from Avast in a red pop up box saying that my virus database is outdated. When I click the box to do the update, I get a confirmation box saying that the database is already up to date… Yet everytime I log back on I keep getting the same message…

Windows security centre also tells me that my anti virus is outdated!!

I have also removed and then reinstalled Avast, to no avail.

Does anyone have a fix, or can suggest a solution to this please?

For information, I am running windows XP. Virus databse version 000739-3, Avast version 4.7 Home edition.

Hope you can help.

Many thanks

James

Hello and Welcome

Check your system time and date - are they correct ?

Excellent, thank you very much. That worked a treat. I really didnt even notice the time and date were wrong ::slight_smile:

James, sometimes virus do this…
Can you fully scan your system?

If you mean a thorough scan, yes I can do that. I’ll run one now and see if it comes up with anything…

Thank you very much for your advice. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Regards

James

Yes. You`ve caught my mind.

Youre welcome. Well be here for help if you need.

Hi. Thankfully everything is ok with the system, no viruses came up on the check. It could just be that we changed the date/time accidentally… ::slight_smile:

Thanks again.

James

It is quite common for someone to check a date for next/last month or further using the system clock and after doing that forget to reset it back to the correct date. So that may be the cause.

A belated welcome to the forums.
