hi guys
i have been using avast for nearlly five years and have experienced no problems in that time, however today i went to check my mail (yahoo) only to discover i had a virus which was a suprise since all yahoo mail is scanned before reaching the inbox ( uses avg ) however i was also worried i had infected my pc from another program/app so i checked my wifes pc which also uses yahoo mail…and the same happened there…then i checked her laptop…the same
so obviously i was worried my whole network was infected and i would need to spend hours sorting the problem out…however i then phoned my mate who also uses avast ( recommended by me ) and guess what…his mail was infected
i then worked out that there was obviously something wrong with yahoo and avast and not my network or pc,s on the network and finally i discovered it was avast at fault marking some items on yahoo as pop,s…and from what i understand they have aplogised for this and will be fixing it on the next update
however my question is " will this happen again " as a yahoo mail user and yahoo answers user i dont want to be locked out of my mail again…i am currently using avg free and this seems fine allthough i would much rather be using avast…
any news on this problem ?
cheers guys and happy new year !
Ensure you have the latest VPS Update 0912270-1 and check again, as there was a problem with yahoo detections in the earlier VPS version, which has been corrected.
Right click the avast ‘a’ icon, select Updating, iAVS Update

Hello guys, this false positive will be corrected in new vps update in about 30 minutes. We are blocking ads from yieldmanager.com (by mistake because they were in our stats as distributor of Fake Antivirus websites).
Thank you for information you have provided.
Regards
and it was fixed in VPS 27.12.2009 - 91227-1
Why wouldn’t it update, e.g. what errors were displayed ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. Then try a manual update again.
