Problems installing on an XP client

I’m trying to do a remote deployment to a Windows XP machine. ADNM says the install was fine but it still shows up as grey in the computer catalog and there is no blue avast ball in the system tray. In the next message(s) I’ll copy the setup.log file from the client machine.

You should control if Avast service is running on the client

bye

My bet would be that there were no install groups selected in the installation package.

I.e. nothing was in fact installed.

Check the Install package. Make sure it’s got all the boxes checked.

Thanks
Vlk

When I went to check on the install package it would not let me edit it. It said that it could not set it as a default resident task. I then deleted the deployment task that I had associated with it and was able to edit it. However if I try to delete it I get the error

Size of recieved message is invalid.

Cannot delete “(null)” session

Is this expected behaviour?

I solved my original problem by creating a new package and a new task. I don’t know what was wrong with the old package, it had all of the client providers checked that we need. And it had worked on 5 other installs without problem.

Size of recieved message is invalid.

Cannot delete “(null)” session

Is this expected behaviour?

No.

Is there anything in the file \data\log\error.log?

Thanks
Vlk

In the warning.log file there is this message:

7/19/2004 9:59:04 AM 1090245544 CY15711\Administrator 2332 Received MSG_DELETEPACKAGE message from client with invalid size: 00000020 bytes.

but nothing in the error.log file.
