Looks like it’s time to send it to the large circular container (bin) and get another drive!
Before you do, make sure that the ide cable and power cable are secure. If they are and it still doesn’t work, it has most probably turned it’s feet skywards!
the cd drive still works, it still plays music cds ok, i can still watch DVDS and play computer games. It just wont burn cds. I now get a message saying, something like:
“the cd might not be blank or may be damaged, also try another brand”

Omar I’m confused now,
you can watch dvd’s and listen to cd’s. Is it a combo drive, dvd writer or cd writer?
You could have a problem with your o.s (as Eddy prevoiusly posted) your burning software or the drive itself. Let us know what drive it is (make and model number) and the software you are using to burn cd’s please.
The computer is made by “Time” and it is a combo drive. I have always used Media Player to burn cd`s! I downloaded the latest media player version 10. About 6% of a song i want to burn gets burned, then it says “could not be completed” then it suggests trying another brand of cd or that the cd may not be blank.
Im trying some blank cds that i have not used before, they are 52x, could that be a problem.? Should i resort back to using 48x?
Omar
Did you ever use this drive to burn any cd’s? How long ago was it when you last used it for that purpose? Are you sure it’s able to burn CD’s at all? What are it’s specs?
I have burned cds on this computer many times before, using media player and it has always worked. i cant remember the last time i burned a cd, it may have been 2 months ago.
As i said above, the blank cds that i am using, i have not used those ones before-they are 52x, im quite sure i have used 48x before. Would that make a differance?
