I recently purchased Avast security software and now my internet explorer will not log onto the internet. It seems to have blocked it from logging onto the internet??? My outlook still works fine and my interent connection is there so not sure what is going on. Can anyone help me?
Set the apropiate permission(s) in the firewall settings.
What should they be set to? And how do I get to the firewall settings?
Open the avast control panel, click on firewall.
Please read the explanations in the build in help centre of avast.
What version of avast are you using - Free, Pro, or AIS?
What firewall are you using?
I am running a windows 7 PC. Which ran Avast Free 4.8 flawlessly.
Upon upgrading to Avast Internet Security 5.0 from Avast Free 4.8 I was unable to access the internet.
My home network connection showed as an “unidentified network connection” after installation.
Turning off the shields and the firewall had no affect.
Eventually through research on multiple forums I found a solution.
I had to open my network connection; select properties; select the network tab.
Under the network tab there was an Avast Network NDIS filter. Uninstalling this filter re enabled my network connections.
I now have two questions.
What is the impact to my system security removing this filter?
When can we expect to see this crippling installation error corrected?
