Alright I’m back, but this time its about my sisters computer instead.
My computer is running perfectly since I removed the BHO problem, thanks again.
My sisters computer, however, is the problem.
For a while now, it’s been running insanely slow (like taking literally 10mins to boot up, etc) and I think its because of some virus (or viruses) that are affecting her computer. I recently installed Avast on there, it detected two infected files which I moved to chest, but its still running insanely slow - so I figured that something else is going on.
I’m attaching her HijackThis and ComboFix logs to this post - to see if theres anything that can be removed that might be the cause of this.

The problem here is really quite simple and easy to fix . 2 AV programs is a big NO-NO
just decide which of the AV programs is the preferred and uninstall the other. Naturally everyone here will tell you to uninstall AVG but that decision is yours.

Oh it was running insanely slow before I installed Avast, thats what I meant.
Her AVG is out of date, and I installed Avast today so she’d be protected.
But prior to this her computer has still been insanely slow.
Edit: Just uninstalled AVG - gonna see if that makes it any faster.
I see you’ve decided to uninstall avg. My suggested procedure would be
download the latest version of avast and the avast uninstall utility from
disconect from the internet
uninstall avast
boot
run the utility (set the box to “C:\program files\alwil software”, or what ever drive/location it was installed to)
boot
uninstall avg
boot
install avast

If you want to use “Messenger Plus 3” reinstall without the “Sponsor Software”

Please start by putting HJT in SAFE MODE. During reboot, tap the F8 key. Select Safe Mode and then run “Hijack This”
Uninstall the following program (if they still exist) Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc.Tools->Open Uninstall manager

I did all of that, and her computer seems to be marginally faster - but still relatively slow. I’ll see what I can do a bit later - she said ‘as long as theres no viruses or adware on there, I don’t mind it being slower’, lol. I did both virus and adware scans and it showed up there was none of either.
Maybe some general disk maintanance, defrag, etc
Check the task scheduler she had some task running, one I think was a sync program. Maybe it’s using a lot of resources.
run chkdsk set to scan for bad sectors. had a bad sector on my hdd computer slowed to a crawl.
I have both Avast and AVG on an XP-Pro box and they haven’d caused me any noticable issues during boot-up or during operation. They seem to play together fine. They also both occasionally find and quarantee things the other misses so I am convinced there is value in having more than one.
