Problems with updating Openoffice

Hi all.

Today I did a routine checkup to see if all my installed programs where up to date by using patchmypc , sumo and ruckzuck.exe. every update went fine , except the one for openoffice. Avast ransomware shield poped up and asked if I wanted to trust the installation of the program ,clicked on yes , but the installation fails everytime. ( have this shield on smart mode ) even uninstalling with revo gives me troubles and the installation package give error warnings and roles back to previous state , so I must perform a force uninstallation with revo. after this process openoffice will not install , also tried libreoffice : same result! wps office on the other hand , will install with succes!
is this a bug in Avast , or are openoffice and libreoffice blacklisted in any kind of way by Avast??

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Premium/One)
  • Which version/build of Avast…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Hi Asyn , thanks for the reply!

I currently use Avast free , lastest stable build ( 21.8.2487 (versie 21.8.6586.696) , no other realtime protective security is installed. I am on win 10 pro x64 , build 2H1 19043.1266. I did use defender before , but disabled that using defender control.

Please post a screenshot.

Hi asyn,

The problem seems to be solved : I did a cleanup of all remnants / regkeys and such using this tool after uninstall with revo:

https://www.voidtools.com/

rebooted my pc and downloaded a fresh installer package from the openoffice site , this time the installation finished succesfully…thanks anyway , for your time and help!

You’re welcome.
