Program blocked

I have a suite of ‘DOS’ programs. In the past when running them, Avast has said it would scan them in the ‘Sandbox’. It still does this on a WIN8.1 machine. However on my two WIN7 PCs the programs just hangs unless Avast is disabled. What is happening?

What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)

Pc with WIN 7 Home Premium. Avast version 10.4.2233
No other security software running. Programs work fine if Avast is disabled.
Programs used to run, although sometimes they would be scanned by sandbox and declared safe.

You are using a old version of avast.
Install the latest version and check if the problem is solved or not.

OK thanks for that. I always update the program when Avast tells me a new version is available but for some reason this time it didn’t.
It seems to be behaving as it did before, i.e. it spends a while scanning the program the first time but after that lets it run straight away.

This release isn’t that old, start of December, so it is still within the cycle of scheduled updates. Not every one of over 230+ million users can update right away. There is an update cycle to spread the load on the update servers, the cycle of updates can take up to three weeks.

It would have got round to you, some are luck and get called in the first week many will be in week two or even three.
